As everyone looks forward to the new year, sometime’s its best to take a breath, rewind, and look back. We made it through Hurricane Sandy, past the Mayan Apocalypse, and with zero zombie encounters (bath salts or otherwise). 2012 wasn’t our best, but it was a far cry from our worst. We played hard, we made friends, and, above all, we survived. There’s one day left for us to dodge the bullet and the boys have brought us a pleasant reminder to keep us on track.
Wrapped up months ago by New York’s Tyler Sherritt and Guatemalan producers Carl Nunes and Ale Q, “Survive” is the lid on the box of 2012 memories. Inside, Sherritt’s vocals convey each moment with a tinge of guilt; they are pieces of our past and souvenirs for the future. We know what’s behind us, so who cares whats in store? All that matters is that we’ll survive.
