Penny – Treehouse EP

Tick.  Most of us spend our entire lives trying to move, to reach higher, to get older, to be something.   Tock.   A spinning clock, the world ticks and we move across it’s face, ringing out our loudest.  Tick.  We search for the newest and the best.  Tock.  Music, friends, jobs, possessions.  Tick.  Everything just out of reach.  Tock.  Everything just not enough.

But sometimes time stops.  Frozen in youth,  ’s vocals laments of distant bells and present wonders.  No, we don’t know who we are.  Dancing on the top of others soles.  Paper crowns.  Face paint.  ”Treehouse,” ripples back to simple times in an world of responsibility.   exists outside EDM; the girl who steps in the room and slows your heartbeat to a crawling thud.  A glimpse, “All I Ask Of You,” started my relationship with this vocalist and with what became one of favorite tracks… ever.  Skrillex? No: Penny.  I searched and found myself consoled with the repeat button.  Like holding that door for the girl you just met, Penny left her mark on us.  The Treehouse EP is a quartet of electronically influenced vocal encounters.  This time we’re not letting her go without getting a date.  We’ll run after her in the rain, catch a cab, and keep our foolish antics up until she notices us.  Lucky, grimy, green, or shiny… we found this one and we’re holding on to it.
